Sipher is a brand new game built on the Ethereum blockchain that aims to bring a new gaming experience to the Metaverse table. Since it is built on the blockchain, all the items, characters, cosmetics, and even in-game lands can be bought and sold as an NFT. It will have its own living and self-sustaining economy where players, businesses, and organizations can flourish, like how things work in real life.
In-game Characters
In the Sipher world, there will be multiple races with different traits, skills, and stats; and three different factions with different styles players can choose from. They all have their own story and lore, contributing to the fascinating mystery of the game.
Sipher Inu – Dog-inspired NFT game characters
Inu is a dog-inspired game character for Sipher, with four sub-races known as Canis, Bioz, Cyborg, and Cosmic. 10,000 distinct NFTs were created in 2D and 3D, which will be used as in-game characters.
Sipher Neko – Cat-inspired NFT game characters
Neko is the second origin race, with sub-races known as Felis, Synthetic, Phasewalker, and Crystalis. 10,000 distinct NFTs were also created in 2D and will soon be designed in 3D for players to use as in-game characters.
Aside from Inu and Neko mentioned above, two upcoming races known as Buru (for bull) and Tori (Japanese word for bird) are scheduled to be released this year. Buru can be seen on their one-minute trailer, together with the other two origin races, Inu and Neko, so we already know what Buru looks like. As for Tori, they’re still working on it.
After the origin characters are sold out, clones will be produced out of the original races by spending $ATHER and $SIPHER, but it won’t ever be the same as the original. You can also buy the limited edition NFTs from players who’ve bought them first, but of course, it comes with a higher price.
Gameplay and Mechanics
Players can take on adventures and complete quests that give rewards such as rare in-game items, recipes, and other resources that they can trade with other players or use for crafting. Sipher also has PVP, PVE, and a battle arena mode, so we can expect this game to be fun and competitive. Guilds can also be made for a more thrilling experience inside the game. We all know that having allies that you can rely on is an awesome and comforting feeling. Not to mention that they are also planning on adding pets that can be traded as an NFT. Yes, you heard it right, pets!
In-game Currencies
Sipher has two currencies known as $SIPHER and $ATHER. Both have their own purpose and functions.
- $SIPHER is an ERC-721 token, used for governance, staking, cloning characters, and other fees. You can purchase $SIPHER using cryptos and real money; you can also earn $SIPHER through gameplay competitions.
- $ATHER is a reward token that’s burnt for cloning characters, crafting and fusing gears, and also leveling up characters, skills, and equipment. This is also the governance token.
How Can Players Earn, and Are There Any Fees?
Because of blockchain technology, players truly own their characters, items, resources, and other assets. That means that they can freely trade it with other players whenever they want. Sipher is still working on its own marketplace, so in the meantime, players can sell and trade their items using other marketplaces that support ERC-721.
It was also mentioned that once the Sipher marketplace is up and running, players will be able to buy, sell, and trade with it, but they would have to pay for the gas fees and a 4.5% marketplace fee of which can be paid by the seller.
People are thrilled and they just can’t wait to try and test it out. It is said that the game will be released sometime next year, and a playable demo of the first game in the first quarter of 2022.
