Lost Relics is an action RPG blockchain game powered by Enjin. Players roam the vast dungeons where monsters and demons lurk. Because of blockchain technology, players can own all in-game items as an NFT, which can be bought and sold on the market in exchange for tokens that have real-money value.
This game was created and developed by a single man named Cliff Cawley, a programmer who has years of experience in game development and programming.
And as impressive as that sounds, in my opinion, it kind of limits the game’s potential. Because expanding the game would require a team effort for maximum productivity. And it never hurts to bring other people’s opinions and skills to the table.
But I must say, the game still looks great. Its top-down view reminds me of Diablo, and the overall design and the tiniest details of this game are pretty impressive. Despite having a single developer behind all of it.
Gameplay
Tamulth is the mainland where you can explore and acquire quests from NPS and townfolks. Right below it is the dungeon where you can fight monsters loot valuable NFTs, all the while trying to avoid death.
And if you think that venturing into the dungeon will be a walk in the park, you’re gravely mistaken. Because upon your death, you can lose all the items you’ve looted, including the ones you’ve brought with you. And there’s nothing more thrilling in a game knowing you could lose everything you worked so hard on.
In the beginning, monsters would be tough to deal with, but it gets easier as you progress. Gears and other valuable items can be bought and sold in the game’s marketplace. So you can also spend some money to better equip your character from the start of your journey.
Pay To Win
Most people would think of this as a bad thing when in fact, it’s a necessity for blockchain games to thrive in their economy because players who invest their time in grinding and looting will receive well-deserved compensation for their hard work. Unlike traditional pay-to-win games where only the cash-grabbing developers milking their game gets to reap all the benefits.
Play to Earn
Earning in Lost Relics is easy. You’ll just have to grind, fight, and ultimately loot powerful items or NFTs from the deep end of the dungeon. You can even get a rare NFT drop at the first dungeon. That’s if luck decides to be on your side. Some NFTs are so rare that only 20 of them are in existence.
You can imagine how valuable that item would be. Just be careful not to die. I can’t stress enough that dying could mean the permanent loss of all your items.
What the Game Lacks
Feedback from players and other reviewers would say that Lost Relics is a fun game overall, but its gameplay is somewhat repetitive and gets dull over time. That’s the downside of dungeon adventure games like this, especially if it lacks content and diversity.
Conclusion
Lost Relics is actually increasing in popularity. And although it has some flaws to improve on, its good graphics and decent gameplay make up for it.
