Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, one of the most popular multiplayer online battle arena games, has unveiled a skin line in-game that will be the game’s first exclusive NFT series. The non-fungible tokens will be available on Binance, one of the world’s most popular crypto-exchange.
NFT Collection
NFKings, an NFT production company, tweeted on 14th January about the anime skin-line titled MLBB’s ‘THE ASPIRANTS’. According to Binance’s website, The Aspirants collection offers 12 unique mystery boxes of 4 different grades. They also contain a chance to win in-game prizes.
There are 25,000 units of the NFT issued on Binance, and each user can purchase a maximum of 100 boxes. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has over a billion downloads and over 100 million active monthly users; the game is especially popular in the south-east Asia (SEA) region, where there is currently an NFT craze.
Release Time & Drops
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s first NFT collection was released at 4:30 PM (IST) on 19th January and since has been sold out according to the NFT producer’s Twitter handle. While it isn’t surprising one of the world’s most popular mobile games can sell out their first NFT collection in two minutes, this is pretty big for the NFT-gaming space. Their handle also announced emoji NFT drops for the collection in-game.

NFTs and Criticism
Many popular games are jumping on the NFT bandwagon because of the current hype and the players’ interest. However, it has drawn a lot of criticism from fans on Twitter. With over a hundred million players, the fanbase is bound to be separated on in-game choices.
NFTs in games and esports will always receive mixed reactions as the concept is still fresh but with big developers and projects collaborating with crypto and NFT companies. What do you think about NFTs in games? Do you think it is fair play or not?
