The road to Counter-Strike’s inaugural major runs through the talented and cutthroat European region.
With Copenhagen on the horizon in March, 32 of Europe’s top teams across CIS, Scandinavia, and Western Europe will soon battle in Swiss bracket Regional Major Rankings events. The stakes couldn’t be higher, as 18 total spots for the PGL Major are up for grabs.
Summary
- 32 European teams will compete in two 16-team Swiss RMR brackets for 18 Major spots
- RMR A features FaZe, NaVi, Virtus.pro while RMR B has Vitality, MOUZ, Spirit
- Teams need 3 wins to qualify or 3 losses to be eliminated in Swiss format
- Top 8 from each RMR qualify directly, 9th-11th go to decider bracket
- RMR A starts Feb 14th and RMR B starts Feb 19th, streamed live on Twitch
The first RMR featuring 16 squads will kick off on Feb. 14th. Headlining rosters like FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, and Virtus.pro aim to solidify their Major qualification early. However fan favorites like Fnatic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and G2 Esports hope to spoil the party and redeem recent shortcomings. With the Swiss format providing little margin for error, each matchup carries do-or-die intensity from the pistol round.
While firepower matters across the server, strategic leadership can prove the difference in advancing matches. All eyes turn to superstar in-game leaders like FaZe’s karrigan and NAVI’s s1mple to guide their rosters both tactically and emotionally through the RMR pressure cooker. At the same time, newcomers 9Pandas and Into the Breach are out to announce their arrival on the big stage by qualifying for Copenhagen via the RMR Cinderella run.
RMR B commences right after on Feb. 19th, as another 16 European contenders take the stage. Defending PGL Major champions Team Vitality headline this half of the bracket, but questions loom around star ZywOo’s lurking form. Meanwhile, the legendary Danish cores of Astralis and Heroic seek returns to glory on home soil. Other hopefuls like ENCE, MOUZ, and Cloud9 know this RMR represents the best shot at a breakthrough ticket to Counter-Strike’s biggest dance.

In total, Europe’s RMR effects will cascade long past February’s final matches. The top eight teams from each bracket qualify directly to BLAST Premier’s Spring Finals, while 9th-11th placed sides move on to a decisive qualifier round. Once qualified, additional regional seeding will determine which teams start in the Major’s Opening Stage and tougher Elimination Stage. With squads fighting both for survival and better positioning in Copenhagen, the RMR fuels regional storylines.
At the end of day, Denmark awaits with Counter-Strike 2’s next crown up for grabs. But the journeys for triumph, redemption, or survival must go through the perilous RMR road. Europe’s best now stand on the precipice of CS:GO glory, each eyeing peaks they hope to ascend. When the dust settles after the double RMR, only some dreams become more concrete while others scatter.
